Have you thought about what self-care would look like in the metaverse? Imagine practicing self-care in a virtual world. There are medical students who are learning how to perform surgeries without having to be in the operating room. Think about indulging in a spa day without having to set foot in a spa. This is self-care in the metaverse.
What is the Metaverse
The metaverse is a virtual reality world that you can create and interact with other people through avatars. One of the most popular VR headsets is Meta Quest. I had no idea that I could learn a new language, visit a new country, or experience life on board the International Space Station. I purchased Meta Quest 2 for my son, not realizing that it would soon become a part of my self-care routine.

Metaverse in Healthcare
Meta Quest announced a partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to build a VR simulation that would efficiently and effectively train medical students and staff to respond in high-stakes, low-frequency pediatric emergencies.
NBC News’ Jake Ward explores the 3D technology allowing three surgeons from opposite sides of the globe to plan an operation together virtually, allowing them to examine detailed renderings of a patient’s brain. This is amazing.
Metaverse in Self-Care
VR covers the 6 Types of Self-Care. When it comes to social self-care, you can meet up with friends and play games or workout. Studies have also shown that the metaverse has aided in the treatment of mental health disorders and management of stress. Meta Quest 2 has hundreds of fitness apps to get you moving. How about a workout with Tiffany Haddish? spiritual self-care is covered with a yoga class. Immerse in mental self-care by attending live events and exploring other places in the world. VR could be your self-care love language.
We are living in the future and VR confirms it. Although, virtual reality is not a new concept, it has taken over in 2022. Meta Quest 2 has entered into households, universities and hospitals. I have incorporated VR into my self-care routine as a way to improve my health and wellness.
