I need a holiday staycation before I can think about holiday photos, hiding the elf, or Christmas shopping. A 3-day staycation at Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans was the perfect way to prepare for this upcoming holiday season. Windsor Court provides an exceptional experience and has become my home away from home.

What is a Holiday Staycation?

A holiday staycation is a chance for you to press pause and finally put yourself first. Spending time alone should not come with guilt. If you can’t remember the last time that you did something for yourself, then you need one.

The holiday season has been difficult for me after losing my husband in December 2019. The pandemic started shortly after in March of 2020, and I could not travel. After selling my home in November 2020, I resumed my monthly staycations.

This is my time to relax, cry and recharge and Windsor Court Hotel was the perfect place.

Windsor Court Hotel is a hidden gem and has become one of my favorite escapes in New Orleans. It has earned the AAA Four Diamond recognition for 17 consecutive years and Four Stars from Forbes Travel Guide since 2007.

Hotel Room

The hotel rooms are oversized, airy, and comfortable. My room of choice is the Premium Suite with a king bed.

The premium suite is also available with two queen beds, but since this was MY holiday staycation, a king bed was a must-have. I love the Italian marble bath with the deep tub, separate dressing area, and living room.

Some rooms may also include a private balcony.

Amenities

In-room amenities include plush robes, slippers, and soft towels. Bath amenities are by Diptyque. The mini-bar is fully stocked and includes an espresso machine.

The hotel even provides your dog with a plush dog bed and specialty treats. This luxury hotel experience includes a nightly turndown experience. The comforter is turned back, lights are dimmed, and a sweet treat is provided.

Club Level Experience

My Premium Suite also included the Club Level Experience. I was given access to an exclusive lounge with continental breakfast, afternoon tea service, evening happy hour, and a dedicated concierge.

The sunrise views of the city were amazing. I enjoyed listening to holiday music while conversing with other guests in town for the holidays.

Dinner at The Grill Room

I was excited to dine in The Grill Room after the announcement of the new culinary and beverage team.

The new menu features modern American cuisine with exquisite presentation.

The Grill Room is open for dinner Wednesday-Sunday from 5:30pm-10:00pm.

There is an updated menu that I can’t wait to check out!

Spa /Fitness Center/Pool

Self-care also includes health and wellness. Windsor Court Hotel checks the boxes for spa and fitness amenities. The Spa at Windsor Court is open to both hotel guests and the public daily from 9am-5pm.

Spa amenities include a sauna, steam room, and amazing skincare and beauty retail.

The hotel’s fitness center features peloton bikes, treadmills, and weight machines. The rooftop saltwater pool is heated in the winter months.

Holiday Events

During my stay, I had the opportunity to witness the decorating of the 19.5-foot Christmas tree (with the chandelier as its star), with more than 25,000 mini white lights and more than 3,000 ornaments in the lobby.

There is also a “Letters for Santa” mailbox where guests and locals can drop off their wish lists for the North Pole. One of my favorite Windsor Court traditions is Windsor Wishes. I write down my wish on an ornament and hang it on their Windsor Wishes tree in the lobby. Check out the #windsorwishes hashtag on social media.

Conclusion

This holiday staycation was the “self-care prescription” that the doctor ordered. At a time when my anxiety and seasonal depression kick in, it’s important for me to take care of myself.

It took me a long time to realize that “taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your kids.” It’s time to First Love Yourself.  You deserve it.

Now is the time to take advantage of the Papa Noel rates through December 30th, with 10% off rates Fri-Sat and 20% Sun-Thurs (exclusions apply).

When was the last time you did something for yourself?
